Palu Abadia is a Colombian-born filmmaker and visual artist based in Brooklyn, NY. She has worked as a cinematographer, director, and video editor for different international projects, including short and long documentaries and media content for companies like Maki Creative, Lucuma Films, Make it Happen, Maracuya Productions, Vision Media, La Maraca Producciones, and Media-Tank Productions.
In 2016 she completed her first film, “Monologues in the Artist’s Studio,” awarded as a best documentary on architecture and design. In 2022 she premiered her feature film "Catapum, Nowhere to Fall", a documentary that unfolds between New York and Colombia, delving into themes of music, tradition, identity, and women empowerment. Since then, the film has resonated with global audiences through screenings around the world.
Her personal work ranges from experimental videos to documentary films, specializing in complex topics that intermingle identity, culture, gender, and immigration. Beyond her filmmaking roles, she's also engaged in postproduction, contributing to a company specializing in content related to public policy and advocacy. Her work has graced festivals, galleries, and educational institutions both in the USA and abroad.
